US singer Chris Brown granted bail by UK court ahead of world tour

American R&B artist Chris Brown was granted bail by a London court on Wednesday, allowing him to proceed with his upcoming world tour set to begin next month.

The 36-year-old singer faces a charge of grievous bodily harm stemming from what prosecutors described as an "unprovoked attack" on music producer Abraham Diaw. The alleged assault, involving a tequila bottle, occurred at a London nightclub in 2023.

Brown has not yet entered a plea and was not present at Southwark Crown Court when Judge Tony Baumgartner approved his bail application.

Known for chart-topping hits like "Loyal," "Run It," and "Under the Influence," Brown is scheduled to launch his “Breezy Bowl XX” tour on June 8 in the Netherlands.

He was arrested last week at a Manchester hotel upon returning to the UK for the first time since the incident. Initially denied bail, Brown was later released on Wednesday after agreeing to pay £4 million (approximately $5.4 million), with an additional £1 million required within seven days.

As part of his bail conditions, Brown must surrender his passport, except when traveling for tour-related purposes. Photo by Pelpa Time Production, Wikimedia commons.
